Dr. Khalid Shirif is a board-certified physician who emphasizes individualized surgical and palliative care approaches with Mesa, Arizona, patients. In addition to guiding Anthem Hospice as owner, Dr. Khalid Shirif serves as owner and medical director of the Vanguard Physician Group, and also directs care at Traditions Hospice.
Dr. Shirif completed his bachelor’s degree in physiology at the University of Minnesota with honors, then pursued an MD at the same institution. Graduating in 1997, he undertook his surgical internship at Boston University Medical Center. He next conducted research in reducing endothelial cell proliferation in the contaminated abdomen using hyaluronic acid at Boston University Medical School.
As a surgical resident at the State University of New York at Buffalo from 2001 to 2005, Dr. Shirif was given a position as administrative chief resident. Having undertaken research in the field of transplant surgery, he presented findings at the annual meeting of the American College of Surgeons in 2005.
